Installation Instructions

  1. Sand edges of VEHICLE door to release outer skin. Cut across just above lower window ledge to remove skin.

2. Remove wing window assEMBLy, window and regulator, door handles, etc.

TIP: Cleaning and painting the inside of the door shell will make your new Clear TrailBody skin look much better when finished!

3. Lay new skin onto door, carefully lining up body line. (you may need to remove flange that was left spot welded to door shell) Mark top edge with scribe or marker and cut exact.  Also mark inner door shell and cut to fit “Half Door” cutout. This can also be cut larger as an option for more visibility “through” THE door.

DO NOT cut area for armrest mount!!

4. With new Clear skin positioned perfectly on your door shell, use finger clamps or a friend to hold it while you drill 5/16’ hole through the original outer handle bolt location, both lower corner drain locations and 1 new hole through sheet metal at leading edge, level with door handle bolt.

5. Now take INNER door handle assEMBLy to a vice and Twist latch rod 90* so it points inward. Cut latch rod at THE 2nd bend leaving the angled portion. Increase that angle to 90*.

Be sure that the plastic keeper clip in the door latch is oriented for this new latch rod.

6. Take the tin bracket for the armrest and remove the u-nuts, tap the locating tab flat with a small hammer, you will need to drill 2 new holes in the armrest bracket that are 1” from existing holes.

Flip the bracket so that the longer side is now against the door and short side is under new clear skin cut out. At this point you can attach latch rod to its location and use the handle base to line everything up.

(check alignment of skin on door shell and be Sure that you locate the handle base so that the handle travel easily pops latch). 1 new hole will also be drilled through handle base.

7. When completed the Inner handle base, armrest and armrest bracket will all sandwich the new clear door cutout and make for a solid armrest as well as door handle for closing.
